Our volunteers play a huge part in everything we do
Volunteering with TACT is a chance to grow, learn, and give back to a community that's all about second chances. Every day, we support people rebuilding their lives after mental health and addiction challenges, and our volunteers are a huge part of making that support possible.
This is a genuinely non-judgemental space to learn, try things out, make mistakes, and grow from them. Whether you're looking to build confidence, pick up new skills, or explore a future career in this sector, there's room for you here.
What you'll gain
Volunteering with us isn't just about giving your time, it's an opportunity to develop yourself too. Depending on the role, you could:
- Gain hands-on experience that strengthens your CV and opens doors to paid employment
- Work towards a qualification through apprenticeships or internal training, where available
- Build new skills and confidence in a supportive, understanding environment
- Meet new people and become part of a team that genuinely cares
- Make a real, lasting difference to someone's recovery journey
Flexible, whatever your circumstances
We know life looks different for everyone, so our volunteering opportunities are flexible too. Whether you have a few hours to spare once in a while or you're looking for a longer-term commitment, we welcome you to apply for as little or as much time as you can give. Some people volunteer with us for a short period, others stay for years. There's no wrong way to get involved.
You don't need a specific set of skills to volunteer with us. For most roles, enthusiasm, reliability, and commitment matter far more than experience. If you bring those, we'll help you build the rest.
A quick note on new starters
We're currently pausing new volunteer starters while we review our volunteering pathway, so we can make sure we're offering the best possible opportunities and support going forward. We didn't want this to stop you getting involved though, so if you'd like to be added to our waiting list, please download and complete this form and send it to info@tacteam.org.uk. We'll be in touch as soon as places open up.
